Creative Commons

Creative Commons is the name given to a family of licenses that allow for copyrighted works to be released. There are several variations to choose from given the distribution required. The licenses are free to use. An example of learning material already released under Creative Commons licenses is the MIT OpenCourseware.

More information about Creative Commons can be found at www.creativecommons.org.

License for learning materials

The MALog project will be using Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike license. Full details of this specific Creative Commons license is available - http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-nc-sa/3.0/.

An explanation of the license is given as follows:

  • Attribution - we ask that the learning materials are credited to the MALog project. You are free to make derivative versions of the learning materials but the MALog project must be credited as authors of the original material.
  • Share-a-like - we allow you to create new versions of the MALog learning materials and then redistribute them. Materials must be redistributed with the same Creative Commons license. We hope this will allow others to enhance the material and fix mistakes.
  • Non-commercial – we do not allow the material to be used for commercial purposes. This does not prevent your company from using the material but you are not allowed to charge for material.
